If you're looking for an audio application with which to make memo recordings, look no further. SndSampler has a special feature, which we call Memo Mode, to help you make your memo recordings.

When Memo Mode is engaged, recording will begin automatically when you launch the SndSampler application, when you choose the menu item File > New > Recording, and, optionally, when you bring SndSampler to the foreground. This can save you many mouse clicks and keystrokes, especially if you make a lot of memo recordings.

How does SndSampler's Memo Mode work? Let's take a look.

The first thing you do is go to the Edit menu, navigate to the Preferences submenu, and then choose Memo Mode. This will bring up the Memo Mode dialog.

Once you've got the Memo Mode dialog, choose the type of behavior you would like for Memo Mode. This consists of deciding when you would like recording to automatically begin.

If you select Menu Choice from the menu, what will happen is that SndSampler will start recording immediately after the Recording dialog appears when you choose File > New > Recording. The recorded sound will automatically be given a name which corresponds to the current date and time. If you are recording to RAM, this will become the recorded sound's name. If you are recording to disk, this will be the name of the audio file to which the sound is recorded.

If you select Menu Choice + Foreground Switch, the behavior will be the same as above, with an added feature. In this case, when you bring SndSampler to the foreground, it will start recording. When you put SndSampler in the background, it will stop recording.

Note also that in both cases, SndSampler will start recording immediately after you launch the application.

After choosing the Memo Mode behavior you desire, you can select a folder on disk where you want your recordings to be stored. Click the Choose button to select a folder, or create a new folder. Thereafter, when you create a memo recording, it will be saved in this folder. Note that this is only if you are recording to disk.

Below the Choose button you will see the path to the folder you have chosen.
